A WEEKLY MESSAGE
FROM DEACON SUBBY ENZOLERA
Have you ever had a day that didn't go as planned? You wake up, do your normal morning routine and grab a bite to eat. Then your off to school, work, a nice day off or whatever. You're looking forward to having a great day, but it seems there is a different plan for you. Nothing at all goes as planned.
Now, envision yourself a little over 2000 years ago, right along side Simon, Andrew, James and John. You go out just looking for a normal night of fishing. This was not recreational fishing with a a pole, some bait and maybe a cold one. This is work. At night. Hard and tiring work, Cleaning and mending the heavy rope nets, loading them on the boats and then casting them out and pulling them in over and over again. A beginning full of hope turns into a long night of disappointment. After all that work you come up empty.
Then it happens, You know the story. A man known for his teaching approaches, steps into your boat and asks you to put out a little ways so he can continue to teach to the crowd. When he is done, he tells you to put out into the deeper water and cast your nets again. You're tired and disappointed, but you follow his command. WOW! What a catch. So many fish that your nets are ripping and your boats nearly sink, How can this be? Jesus has just performed one of his miracles. But like all his miracles, its not for the timely benefit of the recipients(a boat full of fish), but to reveal his true identity. Immediately, Simon realizes who he is. Not just a teacher, but he calls him 'Lord'. And what happens when they get back to shore with this amazing catch, surely worth much more than their usual daily catch? They leave it all, their nets and a boat full of fish, and follow Jesus. Certainly, not what they had planned for their day.
On that day, Jesus had revealed himself to his first apostles. What a difference it made in their lives. Jesus also reveals himself to us in many ways. Maybe not in the way he did to his apostles, but certainly in ways that we should be able to recognize, if only we have our eyes and hearts open.
How has Jesus revealed himself to you in the past? How will he reveal himself to you this week and in the future? Will you be able to recognize his presence in your daily life? Will you open your heart to let him in? If you do, I am certain it will change your life and those around you.
Blessings to you and your family,
Deacon Subby Enzolera

PARISH FAMILY ANNOUNCEMENTS
This weekend, we celebrate World Marriage Day! Let’s take time to pray for our spouses and each other to lift our marriages. Do something special for each other this weekend to show your gratitude for your spouse and their YES! Your goal in this Vocation of Marriage should be to get your spouse to heaven. Take time to ponder in your heart how you can do that, starting right now. “World Marriage Day” began in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in 1981 and grew out of the experience of couples engaged in the “Worldwide Marriage Encounter,” a movement founded in Spain --- “Encuentro Conyugal” ---by the late Father Gabriel Calvo (1927-2021), who devoted his entire priestly ministry (19522021) to the pastoral care of married couples and families. "There is within each couple,” he reflected, “a divine energy of love. It has to be released by a deep sharing between husband and wife, through the communication of their feelings and of the whole of their lives together. It cannot be done in just one moment."
Pope St. John Paul II imparted his apostolic blessing to “World Marriage Day” in 1993 and it has been celebrated in the world’s dioceses ever since. Its purpose is to honor husbands and wives for their mutual sacrificial love and fidelity, embodied in “their own special sacrament.” The Church has always believed and taught that marriage is the “image” of the union of Christ with his Church The late Pope noted that “marriage is an act of the will that signifies and involves a mutual gift which unites the spouses and binds them to their eventual souls with whom they make up a sole family, a ‘domestic church’.

Today and this week we fittingly celebrate World Marriage Day and National Marriage Week. This is an opportunity to focus on building a culture of life and love that begins with supporting and promoting marriage and the family. The permanent theme for this celebration is “Love One Another” from the commandment given to us by Jesus in John 14. This gospel gives us a simple, but challenging message of how our Heavenly Father wishes us to love. Loving one another is a daily decision – simple, but challenging. World Marriage Day can be celebrated in various ways, but most importantly it is done by uplifting those who have said YES to one another in the sacrament of Marriage.
Remember: Marriages striving for holiness = Growing, thriving Church and holy vocations. Mother Mary and St. Joseph, Pray for us. St Louis and St. Zelie, Pray for us.
Are you open to being led by the Holy Spirit into the state in life God has prepared for you? If you are in need of resources for marriage or considering a vocation to the priesthood or consecrated life, please contact Father Boyd or email: vocations@archomaha.org.

MISSION TRIP TO GUATEMALA
Spirit of Solidarity – Join Us on A Mission
Since 2004, parishioners from across the Archdiocese of Omaha have gone to our sister diocese in Huehuetenango, Guatemala to work alongside our sisters and brothers in Christ. Ixim missionaries build bridges of understanding and solidarity by learning about the lives and realities of those in Huehuetenango.
Over the years, Ixim missionaries have staffed medical clinics, taught lessons at local schools, applied fluoride treatments to children, assisted with reforestation projects, painted parish and school buildings, and helped implement clean water projects. Our 20th trip will be June 12 – June 23, 2025.
Learn more about our mission trip at an upcoming information meeting: Contact Charlie for Zoom links or to reserve a spot at an in-person information meeting: cpetro@archomaha.org or 531-218-6354 (call or text).
